Demo Diagnostic Laboratory is in the process creating a holistic approach to assessing, understanding and positively affecting the management of pain in our society. As you may be aware, pain is an epidemic in our country, as well as worldwide. The recent TIME magazine (June 15, 2015) dedicated an issue reporting on this increasing problem. According to some reports the fraud and abuse present in the industry of pain approaches $72B per annum and, in some populations, the pain marketplace has increased over 1000 fold over a ten year period. As such, it is no longer able to maintain a status quo position in our healthcare economy.
Most disciplines within the pain industry live in their own independent silos and rarely interact with one another.Demo is therefore maturing an “out of the box” approach to tackling this problem. We are creating an amalgam of cross-reference which we believe is the only way to effectively address and treat this problem. In addition we are:
1 . Assembling a Scientific and Medical Advisory Board (SMAB) which will consist of recognized experts in EVERY medical and para medical discipline where pain resides including but not limited to: Rehabilitation, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Rheumatology, Psychiatry, Orthopedics, Podiatry, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Occupational therapy, and so on. This will create a cerebral capital of those that treat EVERY aspect of pain to provide a clearer picture of the demographic, compliance, practice, needs and future (R&D, CRO) interventions.
2. Working intimately with regulatory, political, societal, legal and police enforcement arms (DEA, Sheriffs, politicians, Michigan State Medical Society) to mature policies (in conjunction with the other intervention arms discussed above and below) and processes which will be able to be rolled out and monitored for efficacy metrics.
3. Interfacing with national pharmacy dispensary chains, IT/ clinical transformation technologies and drug companies to create a way to monitor accession of pharmacopeia, multiple drug prescriptions, administration of patient prescriptions in real time to be able to provide cross talk with patient’s physicians as to the actual compliance of their patients vs drug diversion, pill shopping and the like.
4. Partnering and providing access to drug rehabilitation, behavior modification (i.e. kids kicking cancer, etc.) physician detox industries (i.e. ketamine infusion, Narcan, etc.) for appropriate candidates to mitigate/reverse addiction.
5. Providing strategically offered random drug testing to above entities thereby providing their participants/patients objective markers of medication compliance, WITHOUT punitive repercussions (at least initially) thereby leveraging patient buy-in and ownership in their own health and wellbeing which has proven effective in certain settings.
6. Fostering educational rollouts by way of articles, textbooks, media, symposia, etc. to medical, regulatory and laypeople alike expanding anyone of the above initiatives and providing information and resources for any aforementioned assistance programs.
In advance thank you for choosing Demo Diagnostic Laboratory.
